Are you an indie artist who finds it hard to get those projects or ideas out of your head and onto a platform? This could be just what you need!
Catnip Productions and Actors Centre Australia are very proud to announce the launch of a new workshop series PRODUCING ESSENTIALS specifically targeted towards independent producers and emerging artists keen to get their work up, in front of audiences and into long term opportunities.
We want to support the ecosystem of our industry by strengthening the independents, and allowing for more opportunities for them to practice their craft and be seen by the right people.
Hosted by Executive Producer of Catnip Productions, Cat Dibley brings with her over 10 years’ worth of experience in theatre nationally and internationally. Catnip Productions has received nominations for Sydney Theatre Awards, worked at leading theatre companies in Australia and overseas, and with some of Broadways biggest literary agents. Cat hosts this series fresh off a three month national tour of her latest work, 4000 Miles.

HEAR WHAT THE EXPERTS HAVE TO SAY:
"Cat is a terrific producer: she's clear, determined and resourceful. Best of all she loves the art form and that's evident from the care she brings to each project and the pleasure she takes in making stuff happen.
Producing is vital to our industry and they need to be as nurtured as every other artist. This course is a great opportunity to start the conversation with someone who is as highly respected in our industry as Cat Dibley." - ANTHONY SKUSE, Director
“I have watched Cat Dibley’s career flourish as she took the initiative to found two independent theatre companies, produced a body of work of which she should be proud, and mentored many independent theatre producers.
The opportunities on offer for independent producers are extremely limited at present, and any offer of mentorship or guidance is extremely valuable. It is very exciting indeed to witness what Cat has created with this series and what it will contribute to the independent sector. I have always known Cat to show absolute dedication, generosity and an enduring level of initiative in her work, thus it is unsurprising that she has taken the initiative now to support the industry in this way.
Actors Centre Australia is excited to assist in the presentation of Cat’s “Producing Essential” program and its future incarnations of guidance and mentorship. We believe that this will provide and invaluable service to the arts community and have no doubt of the need of such a program in our current and future landscape.” - DEAN CAREY, Creative and Founding Director ACA
“Cat Dibley produced some of the most successful shows presented in ATYP’s independent theatre seasons, productions that received Sydney Theatre Awards and secured national tours. She is one of Sydney’s leading independent theatre producers. Her experience would be invaluable to any emerging artist.” - FRASER CORFIELD, Artistic Director ATYP
